💡 Crucial 3D Printing Tips for Matte PETG
Matte PETG is notorious for its extreme bed adhesion. It sticks so well to the build plate (especially bare glass or PEI sheets) that it can easily damage the coating or even chunk the glass upon removal.
To prevent this "over-adhesion" issue, please follow these tips before printing:
Apply a Layer of Glue Stick: Use a standard glue stick or Magigoo on the print bed. The goal here is not to increase adhesion, but to act as a release agent (an interface layer) that makes it easier to pop the model off once finished.
Let the Bed Cool Down Completely: Never try to force the print off while the bed is still hot. Wait until it cools down entirely to room temperature—the thermal contraction will often help the print self-release.
Use Isopropyl Alcohol (IPA): If the print is still stubbornly stuck after cooling, spray a little bit of IPA around the base of the model. It will seep underneath and help dissolve the bond for a much safer removal.
